Disaster prevention and management
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is used to regulate the power supply to a server, reducing the risks of damage by power spikes or surges. If there is a blackout, the UPS will supply about 10 minutes of power, which will allow the server to be properly shut down.
Other precautions such as fire alarm systems and fire-fighting equipment are also valuable.
A comprehensive data disaster recovery plan, which explains what should be done in case of emergency, is a valuable way to avoid panic and unnecessary loss in the event of damage to data.
