Factors affecting the design of a networked information system

When designing a network, consideration must be given to:

  • How well the components can combine together
  • The speed of the transfer of data
  • The ease of use
  • How secure the data is from unauthorised access or accidental loss and
  • If the network achieves what it is supposed to do.
  1. Compatibility of components
  2. Bandwidth
  3. Ability to produce required information
  4. Cost
  5. Need to secure confidential information
