Software/Data Maintenance
Another common use of network administration is to copy files and install software on workstations. Commercial software such as Ghost, enables the network administrator to make an image of workstations and all installed software, including drivers and configurations. The image can then be sent simultaneously to many workstations, and may even be programmed for a particular time of little network use.
This is particularly advantageous to network administrators when new software has to be installed over many workstations. By installing the software on one workstation, copying this as a new image, this can then be sent to all workstations that require the new software.
