Microsoft Windows

As networking has ceased to be an arcane and mystical art known only to weird hackers and computer nerds, support for networking has become built into the core of newer operating systems so users can easily connect to the internet or enjoy the convenience of connecting their home or office computers.

Microsoft Windows, for example, has been building network support into its operating system since Windows 98 (at which time you needed a thick reference book and a rainy weekend to successfully start networking) up to its latest incarnation of Windows (which you can network without even knowing you did it.)

Windows, like the Macintosh Operating System, comes equipped with built-in support for TCP/IP, Internet connectivity, email and WWW. It also comes equipped with client software for hooking computers onto LANs running network operating systems, and peer-to-peer networking support for connecting two or more computers at home to share files, a printer or an internet connection.
