FTP (File Transport Protocol) is a set of rules developed in 1973 describing how to send computer files across the Internet. FTP is commonly used to send updated pages to websites, deliver programs or download new drivers for your computer equipment.
'Anonymous' FTP lets any person download material from a server, but often downloaders need a username and password to access information.
