Centralised file saving

If workers save their documents to a hard disk on one workstation, they would not be able to load the documents at another workstation. However, if they saved files to the network, they could retrieve them at any networked workstation as they moved from place to place at work.

A home directory is a private place on the file server (the central computer that controls the network) where a user has rights to save files. Network users can then access their home directory files on any networked computer, or even from afar by using remote access.
